Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Aer Arann Islands, we recognise our responsibility to the environment, the community, and the future of the Aran Islands.

Lower-impact aviation

  • Short flights: our flights are just 8–10 minutes long, reducing fuel consumption and emissions compared with longer routes.
  • Light aircraft: our aircraft are small and efficient, with limited passenger numbers to reduce load and environmental stress.
  • Route optimisation: we actively optimise flight paths and loading to minimise fuel use wherever possible.

Supporting local communities

We employ local staff and partner with regional businesses, and we help visitors reach the islands in a way that supports the Irish language, crafts, and living traditions.

What we're working toward

Aer Arann Islands takes part in Galway County's Decarbonisation Zone Initiative, focused on reducing greenhouse-gas emissions in line with Ireland's climate goals. We are working to reduce our carbon footprint through more efficient operations and responsible fuel use, and exploring low-emission aviation technologies and greener ground-transport connections.
